Review Drama Thriller Korea: IRIS

Saya tertarik dengan drama ni bila tengok review penonton-penonton yang lain. Lepas dah tengok, ya betul drama ni memang masuk kategori thriller, tembak menembak, bunuh-bunuh, suspen semua ada dalam drama ni. Tambah lagi dengan kecanggihan teknologi yang ditonjolkan, memang patutlah drama ni meletup dan kaut award masa tahun ditayangkan dulu. Kena pulak pelakon-pelakonnya pun mantap sama ada dari aspek populariti mahupun bakat lakonan.

SINOPSIS (copy je dari wikipedia)

Lifelong friends Kim Hyun-Jun (Lee Byung-hun) and Jin Sa-woo (Jung Joon-ho), two Special Forces soldiers under the South Korean army's 707th Special Mission Battalion, each independently come into contact with an alluring woman by the name of Choi Seung-hee (Kim Tae-hee). The pair do not at first realize they have fallen for the same woman and continue to aim for her affections. Soon afterward, they are ushered from their military base to a secret compound in the middle of the night.

There, they are subjected to extensive torture as a means of gauging their worth under the most extreme of conditions. After successfully completing the test, Hyun-jun and Sa-woo are introduced to the standing head of the National Security Service, Baek San (Kim Yeong-cheol). He informs them that the NSS is a secret organization tasked with preempting foreign threats and protecting the country's interests through wetwork operations including assassination of anyone who could be a threat to South Korean national security. Since its founding in 1976 during the rule of Park Chung-hee, the agency's very existence has remained a state secret from everyone, including the President.

Upon being initiated into the NSS, the pair learn individually that they had been headhunted by Seung-hee. Stirred by her deceit, Hyun-jun compliments her skills as an actress, while Sa-woo takes the news less bitterly. Still unaware that they share affection for the same woman, the two quickly prove themselves as capable agents within the NSS.

After taking on an unofficial assignment and foiling an assassination attempt on the leading presidential candidate, Hyun-jun and Sa-woo are invited to the Blue House. There, Hyun-jun experiences déjà vu, believing that he had stood in that very spot many years earlier.

Meanwhile, an elite assassin (T.O.P) appears at a high-rise hotel in Shanghai to eliminate a figure of political importance. After his bodyguards are disposed of, the man is killed and the assassin mentions his intention to move to the next and final target: Hong Seung-ryong, a defector from North Korea and the scientist heading their nuclear arms program.

As their personal relationships develop in unexpected ways, Hyun-jun, Sa-woo, and Seung-hee are soon sent to Budapest to secure Hong Seung-ryong while the Blue House decides whether to grant him asylum. Despite interference, they manage to deliver the defector to fellow agents tasked with escorting him to the South.

While their handover of Hong goes unheeded, a grand conspiracy begins to unravel at the hands of a far-reaching villain. As political tensions mount, Hyun-jun is given an independent assignment that will alter the course of history and change his life forever.

Kim Hyun Joon

He had lost his parents in a car accident when he was young. He doesn’t have much memory of them because of the shock of their death. Not only that, he always carries a sense of void and loneliness in his heart.
But his friend Jin Sa Woo had filled that void. They are close friend and swore to trust each other and unchanging friendship for life.
Then both go to 707 Corps to qualify as agents. They stand out and get noticed by the National Security System (NSS) and become the top agents and top sniper , he is smart, cool head, have charisma and perfectly carries out his missions.
He meet agent Choi Seung Hee there and become  love of his life and both fall in love .

Choi Seung Hee

A psychological analyst who works at secret intelligence organization, NSS. Her secret lovers is her colleague at NSS, Kim Hyun Joon. But because of a friend’s betrayal, their love story is threatened.

Jin Sa Woo

He falls in love for Seung Hee at first sight. But as Hyun Joon and Seung Hee become close, Sa Woo fights to hide his feelings for Seung Hee. He tries to be happy for Hyun Joon.  And then he begin struggles to obey orders. And finally, is he betraying his close friend Hyun Joon?

Park Chul Yung

He is a team leader for North Korean security agents. Fiercely dedicated to his work, he is capable of dying for his beliefs, and once he fixes on a target, he never gives up.

Kim Sun Hwa

She is a North Korean security agent who follows her boss, Park Chul Yung, like a shadow. An intense agent who believes that failure is always soon followed by death. She is ordered to chase after Kim Hyun Joon, but apparently falls in love with him after Hyun Joon saves her life and she being discarded by her country.

Vick

Vick is an assassin for IRIS, a secret organization  hidden in the United States. He is a cold-blooded killer with a 100% kill rate. He has been assigned to kill Kim Hyun Joon.

REVIEW 

Secara peribadi, saya rasa drama ni memang bagus. Pelakon-pelakon berbakat dan nampak all out bawa watak masing-masing. Kena dengan genre, cuma ada sikit rasa tension sebab tak keluar langsung dari frame thrill tu. Maksud saya, kot la ada masanya scene yang tak berkaitan dengan suspen. Ada la sikit babak romantis masa di Akita, Jepun. Tapi tupun saya dok rasa risau jugak sebab di mana-mana pun boleh jadi adegan-adegan tembak menembak ni kan. Tapi itu bukan kekurangan drama ni, dah kata drama thriller. Plotnya laju, saya suka. Mula-mula hero tu saya tak suka sangat, tapi bila dah tengah-tengah cerita muka dia nampak ok la sikit. Mungkin awal-awal mekap gaya macam tu sebab nak tunjukkan yang dia tu remaja atau masih muda dan happy go lucky. Heroin memang la sangat cantik, Kim Tae Hee kan? Tapi saya suka watak Kim So Yeon dalam cerita ni. Apapun, saya tak dapat nak bagi 5 bintang kat drama ni sebab ada kepala hantu IRIS tu tak tau sapa (mungkin depa nak buat sekuel yang katanya nak tayang tahun 2011 ni) dan juga ending yang tak best langsung. Hahaha. Buh la trailer cerita ni kat sini. Enjoy...
